June 2013 Update: half of the streamside path has been edged and gravel placed. We have new salmon metal art jumping happily along streamside. You may walk the path but it is still under construction!
One bench is in place. Would you like to donate a bench for community to meditate and reflect?
We recently signed a contract/grant June 2012 to do a major streamside/riparian restoration. Thanks to Fr. Pat Kerst and Fr. Jeff Core! A big thank you to Marguerite Daltoso (St. Francis) for her help in navigating our setbacks and critical areas. Also, a great big thanks to Tara Patten with the CURB program for overseeing this project. CURB is a partnership of Tri-State Steelheaders, Kooskooskie Commons, Walla Walla County Conservation District and the Washington State Department of Ecology.
A 30' wide perimeter, the length of Yellowhawk will be cleaned up of blackberries, invasive grasses and replanted with native plants. Several seating areas will be left to pray, reflect and heal.
Watch for more info coming soon!
